Common Questions
Is my file stored on your servers?
No. Files are processed entirely in-memory on Cloudflare's edge network and discarded the moment your download begins. Nothing is logged, stored, or retained — not even temporarily.
My file is encrypted — what do I put in the password field?
Enter the file open password — the one Excel prompts you for when you try to open the file. If your file opens without a password but editing is blocked, leave the field blank; XLockFree will remove those locks automatically.
After downloading, Excel still asks for a password. Why?
Make sure you are opening the downloaded file (named unlocked_…), not your original. If the problem persists, the file may have multiple layers of protection — check the unlock report badges shown after processing to see exactly what was removed.
What is the maximum file size?
Each file can be up to 25 MB. You can add up to 10 files with a combined size of 100 MB, and XLockFree explains any rejected file immediately.
Does it work on Mac, Linux, and mobile?
Yes. The XLockFree interface runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. Files are sent over encrypted HTTPS and processed in-memory on Cloudflare's global edge.
I have multiple files with different passwords. Can I unlock them in one go?
Yes. Add up to 10 files and enter a different optional open password for each encrypted file. Download results individually or together as a ZIP.
